Design rationale

The red, green and blue swatches of color represents the sRGB space that CSS colors are represented in. These swatches appear to be overlaid on a page - it's similar to the way style sheets are applied to HTML, adding layout and color to the data beneath. A no-nonsense font with a universal appeal (Adobe Gill Sans Bold) is used for the logo.

If your monitor has not been properly calibrated (for gamma, etc.) the blue may appear rather dark.

Although black is the recommended color to complement the red, green, and blue, it can easily be changed to complement media with other color schemes.

Design advantages

Because the art was done in PostScript, the logo can be scaled to a great degree without loss in detail and is suitable for printing on letterheads and other material requiring resolutions over 600dpi. The design is modular, allowing space for version numbers and other labeling. The simplicity of the design allows for easy reading and recognition at small sizes.
