Projects

Creative Commons has launched a series of projects designed to support and expand the public domain. These projects include the following. If you have ideas that we could launch, email us.

The Licensing Project

This project enables users to build and attach machine-readable licenses that dedicate at least some of the rights within a "copyright" to the public.

Founders' Copyright

founders' copyright

This project enables contributors to dedicate their work to the public domain after a copyright term of just 14 years — the same term as established by the First Congress of the United States in 1790.

International Commons Worldwide

The International Commons project will coordinate teams of legal experts around the world with the aim of drafting and eventually adopting country-specific Creative Commons licenses.

Science Commons

Establishing a Creative Commons within the scientific and academic communities.
