I have the following submit code for my form:

as you can see the event is only prevented if the form validation sets FormErrorFlag to false I.E. the below line of code:

if(FormErrorFlag) {
e.preventDefault();
e.stopPropagation();
}

My question is , is this a race condition of sorts ?, because the form submit event will only be prevented if the form validation does't pass.

Note:: i cannot use Ajax for form submission as this is for a CMS platform that only needs the form to be prevented form submission if the validation fails.

@Jon , yes works all fine , if the validation fails , i want the submit event will be stopped and if the validation is successful , the browser reloads , i am just curious to know if what ive coded is actually a race condition...more precisely , am i calling the preventDefault() and stopPropagate() too late ...

if(FormErrorFlag) {
e.preventDefault();
e.stopPropagation();
}

even though it works :D

Callbacks always run to completion. There is no possibility of "too late". All that maters is that you call preventDefault() before the function returns.

Nothing happens asynchronously while your callback code is running.

Ok thanks @Jon,

sorry to repeat the same question , but even on a slow machine is there any chance that the e.preventDefault() will not fire , just because the validation code took too long to execute ?

Read again:

"Nothing happens asynchronously while your callback code is running."

AFTER your callback function returns, there is a test to see if default is prevented. If it is not prevented, the default action is performed.

"nothing" means pretty much "nothing", BTW. Add/remove a CSS class on a node. Now change it back (in the same callback). It is as if nothing was changed. There will be no visual effect, no matter how slow the machine or how much code between changing the class the first and second times (so long as in the same callback before return).
