This is what we currently say on the subject:
http://api.jquerymobile.com/global-config/
http://api.jquerymobile.com/pageinit/
and
http://api.jquerymobile.com/pagecreate/

I agree it would be good to have very clear explanation/message.

just spotted that we have examples with $(document).ready(): http://api.jquerymobile.com/jQuery.mobile.path.get/ (and maybe others).
