I don't know if it have been up before but split the "help I am stuck" up into to forum. One for non plugin related question and one for plugin question.
It looks like most plugin question is not answered as many don't know how they are function.

Hey Tyde,
I also suggested something like that in viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3950.
There are many "I am new in jQuery" question, so I thought about a "Newbie" section.
I also posted some questions on the forum, but never got an answer because there are many new topics a day...
By adding some categories, it would be much more clear.

I hope Mike will look into this, as the old forum did not support sub categories, I can understand why it was not made then. The new BB3 do support it.
Mike if you need a hand with it I am glad to do it, and get some more input from RElst on what will be best.

Hey guys,
I'm all for breaking the forum down into more categories, but first we need to figure out how exactly to break it down. Here are some possibilities:
Possibly merge jQuery UI with plugins? Other thoughts?

- New to jQuery: place for newcomers
- Help, I'm stuck: general questions/problems
- jQuery UI: problems with UI components
- Plugins: problems with plugins

JQuery UI and Plugin are not the same. Many question are on plugin like Skybox or Lightbox.
The 4 I think is fine.

Right, I know they're not the same, but I'm saying I'm not sure it warrants having two separate forums for them.

Awesome! I'll probably do this shortly after Christmas. Next couple of days are pretty busy and I want to make sure I set this up correctly.
Yup! Just sent you a reply.

Like all of us I think? Lots of food and lots of presents!
Next week, I'm on vacation, so I won't be much online until 2010...
4th January, I'm 100% back in business!

i think four forums is ok as jQuery Ui is quite big area and has its own architechture so warrents it own area (after all jQuery gave it its own site).
I don't think a known bug section is needed as people can just post a link to the jQuery bug tracker or the site the plugin is from.

Are there bugs in jQuery?![]()
Shh, don't tell!

I've made some improvements to the site in the past month or so, and we've seen a dramatic decrease in spam (yay!). We should have new forums within the week, so keep a look out for those!

I guess the jQuery team just switched the forum over to ZOHO Discussion. Fortunately all posts and users seem to have been retained, but it looks like myself and the other moderators have been replaced. So much for the changes we had planned! Hopefully this works out for the better.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the old forum what it is today! It's been a good 2.5 years.

Hey Guys - Can you give me a full list of moderators from the old forum? We'll be happy to bring them over and give them full moderation privs.
This move is very much still a work in progress (we're importing the full Google Groups history at the moment as well, should be done by the end of this weekend). Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hey John, it's going to be great bringing both communities together under one place. We were planning on breaking the "General Discussion" forum into sub-forums due to the high volume (see above). Once the merger is done and everything's been smoothed out that might be something we can revisit, but getting everything working first is definitely priority. :)
I'll follow up via e-mail with the moderator list.

I noticed this new forum has a perfect solution for the [SOLVED] issue to indicate whether a question is answered or not.
The last few weeks changed the topic title to [SOLVED] + original title to show the users that the topic has an answer. Maybe it's possible to migrate this to?
Re: Re: Forum

Yes the SOLVED or ANSWER pointers are very important indeed.
(I really can recommend the forum style they have at msdn)

please lets have categories back in the forum. There is a good reason why most forums have categories. It is more userfriendly then putting all discussions into one pile.
