Seems to me that a large part of the desirability of editinplace is that 
it makes the high-overhead WYSIWYG editors unnecessary.
-View text *as rendered* my markdown, BBCode, Textile, wiki markup, etc
-click (or any other trigger) to go into edit mode
-make changes in code view
-hit return or other trigger to save and re-render through ajax goodness 
without a page refresh.

Rather than tie in one of the WYSIWYG editors, I'd prefer to combine it 
with a popup that gives a rendered preview that could be 
accepted/rejected before committing the changes to the database.
