I wanted to recommend using the rangeSelect option of datepicker as
described in the jQuery UI 1.6 book published this year but it doesn't
seem to work any more.
Was that functionality removed in jQuery UI 1.7 or is it just broken?
Anyway, this is exactly what you want to do, adding just:
rangeSelect: true
to datepicker options would give you two datepickers with one date
being no sooner than the other.
