I've pulled parts of this from various sources, but this is what I'm currently doing. It does some extra stuff because often my tabs fetch ajax content on click which needs to be emulated when going directly to a specific tab on page refresh. It also appends the tab id to any html forms on a tab so that a form can submit back to the tab it was on. http://dpaste.com/129508/ Hope that helps you get started.
