The impact of these students\u2019 work is described in a research article entitled, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/journals.lww.com\/academicmedicine\/Citation\/2017\/02000\/Why_Medical_Schools_Should_Embrace_Wikipedia__.22.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Why Medical Schools Should Embrace Wikipedia: Final-Year Medical Student Contributions to Wikipedia Articles for Academic Credit at One School<\/a>,\u201d which was\u00a0published in Academic Medicine, a top academic medical journal.<\/p>\n<p>Medical and health-related articles on Wikipedia are among the top articles viewed by the general public. The articles edited and improved by the medical students in Dr. Azzam\u2019s course were viewed 1.1 million times during the two months that the students were actively editing the articles.
