v2 Plans & Details

My past few months of lock in have finally completed (I was finishing off my unity asset Repetitionless, a texture tiling remover, check it out https://u3d.as/3Jr8)

So I will be starting work on the rework in a few days! Below are all the plans and details for the refactor

In terms of time allocated to this project, I will be prioritising support and updates for Repetitionless, but I will be working on this in the time outside of that. I will also be opening monthly donations on ko-fi soon with another notice in a few days. More details on that near the bottom of this post

Also, since this is going to be such a major change and make this app not just a Spotify song downloader, I will be changing the name but I need time to think on it, I will make another post when I have one

Core Changes

• Complete Refactor
• CMake for building
• QML for UI
• UI Redesign
• Native Linux, Mac Support

New Features

• YouTube Support
• Genius Lyrics Provider

App Layout

The app will now have one main screen which:

• Lists playlists
• Can combine spotify, youtube, local files in one playlist
• For the whole playlist, selected, or individual songs, you can:
  • Download the songs (How the app works currently)
  • Download lyric files
  • Import metadata from a link or manually update it

There will also be other screens for:

• Notices/Release Notes
• Dependency details and updating
• Settings

Post v2 Features

Since v2 is already a lot to take on, I will be limiting the features a bit and releasing more after the update currently including:

• Get links from different sources (YouTube to spotify, vice versa)
• More platform support (I will be taking suggestions)

There will be more features for sure but this is the current plan

Monthly Donations

So this is going to be a big rework to the app and will take a little while to complete, and since this is more of a passion project and I have uni and unity assets to maintain, I wont have much time allocated to work on this. I will be opening monthly donations so that I can hopefully earn at least a bit on this app so that I can allocate more time to this project and work on it comfortably :)

I will also add a few benefits to monthly supporters to sweeten the deal a bit:

• I will be posting concept art and previews of the new app (once it gets to a visual stage)
• I will post pre-releases of the app before it goes public (once its closer to release)
• Your name will be listed within the app when v2 releases

Communication

For updates on the new version, I will post a discussion on the github with these details aswell as github issues for the new features to keep track of how far along it is. If anything major happens I will post another notice or discussion to github. For monthly supporters I may also post a few technical updates and details to the ko-fi page
