The Google Play pre-launch report in the dev console seems to be a huge help - we can upload a beta or alpha version and have it click through to test for crashes etc on various devices.

The main reason this doesn't work for us is that our app is mostly blocked behind a sign-in wall. However, I just read that it can be given sign-in credentials: https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/7002270

Is it a good idea to create a "test" username and password to use for this purpose? @nicolas-raoul We also have to consider that there is a good chance that it will upload crap, so we can only test on beta servers I think.

We can also add Fastlane for automatic deployment of the beta App. (Maybe on successful merge to release branch or master branch)

Fastlane looks really interesting, thanks @ujjwalagrawal17 ! I think it would be more relevant to the discussion at #1056 though.
