Categories field just spins

There is a spinner spinning on this category field but nothing seems to happen even if we type some words in.

All I know is it happened today. I waited about 30 seconds.

Okay to get your settings I have to continue on the steps and finally submit the picture and then I could get back to settings. However the submit button is stuck again. So I think you better put me out of the alpha program at back in the beta program please.

Strangely I can not reproduce it anymore in the latest master.
It was happening to me a lot in the last few days (I use mostly pull request branches though, rather than master).

As far as I know you would've to do that on your own. Typically the steps are:

1. Leave the following google group: https://groups.google.com/d/forum/commons-alpha
2. Uninstall the app from play store
3. Re-install it to get the beta version

Unfortunately Play Store does not provide an easy way to check, so you have to compare the end of the version string in About with the commit hashcodes at https://github.com/commons-app/apps-android-commons/commits/master

Yeah. It's not easy to find the various version. Anyways, in case it helps for me the versions were as follows right now (20June2021):

Alpha - 3.0.1.1019~10ed667
Beta - 3.0.1~898dbcd75
Stable - 2.13.2~757c7b008

While trying to get the above information in my device, I noticed trying do steps 2 & 3 shortly after leaving the alpha group might still give you the alpha. You might want to wait some time after leaving the group before uninstalling and reinstalling the app to ensure you get the beta version.

If you still don't get the beta, let me know. I happen to know of a workaround to quickly get the beta but it unfortunately involves taking more steps.

As you can see, no web requests are being made. On the depictions step, I could see many web requests appearing as OkHttp log lines.

Categories work perfectly now. It's an old issue and already solved by the pull request #4474. Please review and close this issue @nicolas-raoul
