I just tried to watch some presentation videos from Wikimania. Some had very weak sound, some had no sound in the first minutes, some only played the first minute and then stopped. I don't think the Wikimania videos are unique in having such problems. Video is new to Commons, and the expert contributors are more familiar with still images. How can we learn to make better videos? Are there some good instructions? Perhaps a free instruction video (Wikibooks, but a video instead of a book) on how to produce good videos is what we need. In fact, the English Wikibooks has a title on "Video Production", http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Video_Production but it doesn't have a clear focus (pun not intended). It starts out with discussing satellite TV and has long sections on file formats in different operating systems. There is a help page on Commons for converting video to the Ogg Theora format, but that is only the last step in a long chain. Given that video is new, how can we find and rate videos, nominate "good/featured videos", and give advice on how to improve quality? Is the Commons village pump enough for this? Commons has a separate graphics village pump. Do we also need a separate video village pump? Current digital video cameras use hard disks or memory cards, instead of tape cassettes. Many new models cost less than 300 euro (or dollars), some as little as 120 euro (memory card perhaps not included). Some have a special "Youtube mode", and I guess that kind of usage is what drives the price down. What models are good, and what should one watch out for? We can find free still photos on Flickr and copy them to Commons. Is there somewhere we can find free videos and copy them? Yes, at the Internet Archive. I found a page with a dead link, as i went further i found the link 23 times or on 23 pages in this one category, file: jpg. Who fixes this stuff, the link had been dead since march. of 2017.

Calculatrice Texas Instruments TI-68

Bonjour, j'ai acheté une calculatrice TI-68 en 1988 et je n'ai toujours pas changé de pile pour la faire fonctionné. je voudrais savoir si sais une pile à vie.elle à voyager partout avec moi, France, Djibouti, Tchad, Centre Afrique, Mayotte, Guerre du Golf,Moyen Orient, Cambodge, Kosovo, Guyane.les vices de la machine sont rouiller, et j'ai peur que si un jour, la pile ne fonctionne plus, de devoir changer de machine.je n'en veux pas d'autre car ,elle m'a servie partout en OPÉRATION. Je suis très content de ma machine Texas Instrument TI-68.Sa fait 30 ans que je l'ai sans changer de piles.Piles éternel je ne sais pas mais je voudrais que sa se sache pour votre Marque que je suis très satisfait.Merci pour la qualité du produit en vous remercient Patrick Volff

Commons app update: v2.8.3

Hi all, We've just released version 2.8.3 of the Commons Android app to all users. :) The new version is available for download on the Google Play Store[1] as well as F-Droid[2]. The update includes fixes for most of the high-priority bugs in the app, including failed uploads and overwrites. Additionally, we have several new features, notably: - When you upload an image to an item on the map of "Nearby places that need pictures", the image will be automatically added to that Wikidata item - Browse other images on Commons via the new "Explore" feature - View your achievements and upload statistics (by tapping on the trophy icon next to your username) We are aware that there are a few recent issues that need resolving, namely crashes for users on Android 8.1 and above, and issues with date templates. Those will be fixed ASAP in v2.9. Thank you all for your patience as we work on these! More details and screenshots can be found in my blog post[3].
