I found it useful having the stracktrace in the failure message when an exception occurs. Is this worth contributing?

Usually the stacktrace gets logged to the Firebug console, or whatever console is available.

Though having it as part of the test results could be quite useful. I'd be interested in a patch (or Github fork).

I think it would be great. Sometime firebug is a bit complicated and misleading about the line in which the error occur. It is often the case when you embed you javascript in the html page itself.

This sounds important to me too. I often have have a function that can test multiple things about the state of an object, and then call it in many different places in my testing code. When one of those test fails, I need to know who called that function. I can make this happen by passing in things to put into the message from each caller, but a simple way to look back at who called it would be nicer.

I'm still open to adding this, if someone implements it. Just needs a pull request.

Eventhough Chrome's console is pretty good at providing stacktraces (just tick the "notrycatch" checkbox in QUnit, run the suite and you'll get the full stack in your console) – there is still one major use case where the console is irrelevant: remote testing (like TestSwarm).

Frameworks such as TestSwarm save a copy of the document html to the server, and the developers can then see failures - in which case all debugging info should (also) be right there in the html.

Getting cross-browser stacktraces is not as straightforward as doing it for just Chrome or Firefox, but we should be able to get it down fairly far back in terms of browser coverage. Iirc there's a script floating around the interwebs doing just that. All one has to do is find it and then output it nicely when and where it should inside QUnit's html
