- return String(h).replace(docType, "").replace(tagso, div12).replace(tagsc, "</div>")
...where:- h is the HTML fetched by the Ajax request- div12 = '<div class="ajy-$1"$2'
and the others are RegEx's:- docType = /<\!DOCTYPE[^>]*>/i,
- tagso = /<(html|head|body|meta|script|link)([\s\>])/gi,
- tagsc = /<\/(html|head|body|meta|script|link)\>/gi
...because older versions of jQuery required such pre-processing, before dumping the HTML into a jQuery selector.

How is it done properly?Thanks in advance!- I am developing the jQuery plugin below, and this issue at GitHub was raised by a user .The plugin is responsible for "throwing" a warning in the console:
Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user's experience.I attempted to research the possible cause and have ruled out that it is due to a missing- async: true
in the central $.ajax() call.Next, I've ruled out, that it is due to attaching script tags, as described in here...I'm now clueless, and wondering what else might be a classic reason for this warning message?

Hello all,I'm quite happy with an effect on http://4nf.org/ I called "squeeze".I've currently set the time for the animation to 500 for illustration purposes.
What the algorithm in pseudo-code looks like is as follows:For every valid click:- animate the width of the #content div to 0, increasing the margin reciprocally.- swap the #content div with Ajax- animate the width of the #content div back to original value, decreasing the margin reciprocally.Everything works fine, if the user operates slowly.However, if he clicks too fast, especially when initiating the back button, the animation gets stuck and the width of the #content div decreases, yielding an unacceptable user-experience...How is that handled correctly? Do I need a- stop()
somewhere?Any help is greatly appreciatedThanks in advance!
EDIT: Behaviour is much better when the following code is placed before the animation:- $gthis.stop(true, true);
where $gthis holds the content div(s).
However, the problem persists, when rapidly hitting the back button!

jQuery Ajaxify Plugin: http://4nf.org/- Ideally, what I would be seeking to do is this:The tricky bit is, that the target site can contain a sidebar (left or right) and the effect should be generically available to as many site types as possible...Right now, I have a different effect active at http://4nf.org/.It basically animates the width of the content div down to 0, swaps content, and animates the width back to its original value, combined with a simple fade effect.Not even that much simpler effect works, because the sidebar gets "gobbled up". (Sidebar originally on the right hand side)Questions:- Is a slide like a la jQuery mobile above possible at all for sites with a sidebar?- If "yes", could somebody outline the algorithm?- Why does my sidebar get "gobbled up" by the above simple effect?Additional information:In the Wordpress Theme I'm using on http://4nf.org/, the content div and sidebar are of class
- "float:left".

Hello all,animate() is not working on my website, presumably because the element's position it works on is "static".I'm trying to support some basic page transitions "out of the box" in a plugin and now have reached the stage, where I would like to perform an animate() on the main div (in order to slide left, right, up, or down).I'm thinking of detecting, whether the div's position is not "absolute" / "relative" and then programmatically change it to "absolute", prior to calling animate().Found this (old) plugin which seems to simplify the task:

Hello all,have the following issue with my jQuery plugin (see below):I would like to be able to fetch the location header from the server-side with getResponseHeader somehow in a first step
I don't want to modify it or do anything dodgy with it, but merely update the currentURL of the plugin dynamically after the return of e.g. an Ajax POST.Is it possible to read that header attribute?EDIT:Think I've found something similar:

Recently, I've tried out introducing a "jOB - jQuery object builder", currently in the form of a rather complex function called "pP", that takes a cryptive string, I've called "dna".I'm quite happy so far, but would like to make sure you agree :-)It results in a lot less lines of code, which I cherish.Once I got used to it, it helped me get a better overview of the complex workings of this plugin and helped simplify things further, which I probably wouldn't have done, if I left it in the normal fashion.You can see "normal" code in the bottom part (Pronto variant) of the above link, which I haven't transformed yet.- It also has embedded debugging and logging and potentially any other useful routine functionality commonly used in plugin development. You can see this embedded debugging already working on the site below.- It has powerful internal object-oriented handling, that enables e.g. persistent internal variables across plugin calls (!)- Can you think of anything else I can built into it by default?What do you think?- Is there room for such an object builder, that ideally should simplify plugin organisation?- Do you have the impression, that I'm going in the right direction, provided most of the above objectives can be fulfilled?In case successful, I would like to share it with other plugin authors, especially for RAD and organisation of jQuery plugins.Thanks in advance and
Kind regards- Hello all,I love jQuery and according to Google Trends:its popularity is still rising, which is great!I've been using Wordpress + PHP in conjunction with jQuery plugins.According to Google Trends, Wordpress is still rising in popularity, whereas PHP - I don't know - am a bit worried. To make things worse, two top-notch developers I know say Python is the most modern and powerful language around and the way to go.I've basically got two or three main questions (they should be interesting for lot's of people):1) Is it worth switching from PHP to Python? (I'm currently only married to Wordpress with little own stuff in PHP, but it would be a bit of a migration. My webhost supports both PHP and Python for free)2) Is there something like "Wordpress for Python"? Or even a better CMS in the Python world?
3) Is jQuery biased in its communications to either PHP/Python? Maybe someone could briefly illustrate, what an Ajax handshake with Python looks like. (With PHP and thanks to the beauty of jQuery it's really easy)You might be asking - what about Java, which is the top-notch programming language worldwide?There's three reasons I'm not inclined to Java:- Google itself seems to prefer Python over Java in the long run (I saw so in recruiting ads)- Java is sort-of now "owned" by Oracle whereas I understand that Python and PHP are not at all proprietary and thus free to evolve with higher dynamics- Python and PHP are geared more at the web-frontend (which is my current inclination), whereas Java is geared at everything imaginable.Thanks in advance!

I understand that this property has been deprecated in 1.7. and still is?
It's still widely used, very powerful and generic.
I'm contemplating, whether to use it in my plugin... (at the moment, I don't depend on it)
Obviously, if jQuery is serious about dropping it soon, there's no point in that, right?
Or is there going to be a substitute / recommended workaround?

I'm still a newcomer to jQuery but principally very fond of it already.
I'm using html() to pull in a div from a target page and load it into the current page dynamically.
This all happens way after the ready event has fired. As we know, the ready event will not be fired again.
The target div contains normal HTML and scripts.
The order, in which the scripts should be fired is important.
The scripts may be inline scripts or references to external scripts.
It seems html() does not do the job correctly, as all my JS-based content just disappears in the browser window, though visible in Firefox.
Is there a workaround, in order to preserve the correct execution and order of JS content, similar to how the browsers do it on initial page load?
I would be willing to craft a new plugin for this purpose, maybe something like $.fn.iHtml(), if somebody could throw a bit of light into this enquiry.

I'm extracting a div from some large HTML that contains normal HTML and scripts.
If I use e.g.- $div.replaceWith($newDiv);
...the scripts don't get executed. Same with html($newDiv.html())
How can I get the scripts to execute?

I've been researching the web and fiddling around for hours now.
All I want to do in pseudo-code terms is the above.
Suppose $page holds a variable that holds a cached page,
and divid holds the textual ID of a div within $page.
I've tried lot's of variants including the straight-forward one:- $page.find(divid).remove();
Nothing works.
Any ideas?

I'm wondering whether it's possible to perform a programmatic pre-run with jQuery over the DOM, substituting any image links outside of the viewport with the required HTML?
