Costa Rica has as its affiliate institution the [http://www.vinv.ucr.ac.cr/ University of Costa Rica] through the area of research (Vicerrectoría de Investigación). There is also a vibrant voluntary sector, which includes Creative Commons enthusiasts from the artistic and music communities.

The Spanish and English versions of the BY-NC-SA license are available, as is a summary of the substantial changes proposed by the legal team to port the licenses to Costa Rican copyright law.
