Officer of the NSW Volunteers, about 1890-1902

The cuff decorations on this soldier's uniform indicate that he is likely to be a lieutenant from the NSW Infantry (possibly 1st Regiment). The jacket looks as though it is a red dress jacket adopted in the Sydney battalion post 1870, and navy blue trousers. This photo is part of the Australian National Maritime Museum’s William Hall collection.
