Group of waving passengers on board the ferry SS KIANDRA at Circular Quay, 1932-1939

This image depicts waving passengers on board the Sydney ferry, SS KIANDRA, departing Circular Quay. The ferry was launched in 1911 as the sister vessel to SS KIRRULE and KUBU. On 30 April 1930, KIANDRA collided with the Manly ferry SS CURL CURL, suffered damage and was withdrawn from service. Throughout the 1920s the vessel was used on harbour cruises. In 1953, KIANDRA was eventually sold and broken up.
