HEREWARD wrecked on Maroubra Beach

The wreck of the HEREWARD on Maroubra Beach in May 1898 attracted a great deal of public interest. Thousands visited the site to watch it being pounded by the waves, and if possible to take a souvenir. The scene was recorded by a number of professional photographers and hundreds of amateurs.
