Two images overlaid, depicting a woman and people in a car
This image depicts two images overlaid, with people sitting in a car and a woman at the edge of a stretch of water in Newcastle, New South Wales. The man depicted in the car second from the left is American shipowner, Captain Edward Robert Sterling. The woman seated to the right of Captain E R Sterling is possibly his daughter Ethel Manila Sterling. The woman seated at the wheel is Ethel May Sterling (née Francis), who was originally from Newcastle and married Captain E R Sterling's son, Captain Ray Milton Sterling. The photograph was probably taken on 25 May 1915, due to the lettering on the left.
