Wheelhouse from the Sydney ferry GREYCLIFFE at Bradleys Head, November 1927

On 3 November 1927, RMS TAHITI came into collision with the Sydney ferry GREYCLIFFE off Bradleys Head. The ferry sunk with the loss of 37 lives. During the sinking, many passengers clambered to safety on top of one of the two wheelhouses from the ferry. This photograph depicts one of the wheelhouses washed away with the tide.
