Paddle wheel ferry WARATAH, sailing ship GREAT VICTORIA and other vessels, Circular Quay

This image depicts Circular Quay in 1866, seen from the eastern side, with the North Shore Ferry Company's paddle wheel steam ferry WARATAH in the foreground at a wharf at the foot of Phillip Street. The Black Ball Line's full rigged ship GREAT VICTORIA and two other sailing vessels are lying at the Quay. The early Sydney customs house and the tower of St Philip's church in York Street are seen in the background, to the left of the GREAT VICTORIA. This is one of the earliest dated images of a Sydney ferry.
