The inscription `Woomera, 1949 / with Pavel[?] Zurek / Alex Nypl / (Newman)' is handwritten in black ink on the reverse, beneath a blue ink inscription written in Czech. Alex Nypl was a Czechoslovakian migrant who arrived in Melbourne on PROTEA, 23 December 1948.
