First Officer Paul Kause, Count Felix Graf von Luckner and unidentified man on board SEETEUFEL

This photograph depicts Count Felix Graf von Luckner, centre, with First Officer Paul Kause, left, and an unidentified male visitor on board the two-masted schooner SEETEUFEL. According to the secret files kept on the von Luckners by the Commonwealth Investigation Branch (CIB), Kause was described as a quiet young man who did his job and would only occasionally go ashore whilst they were visiting Sydney.

For more information on Count von Luckner's visit see our blog post 'Espionage and paranoia: The Sea Devil tours Australia'.
