Count Felix Graf and Countess Ingeborg von Luckner with Karl Muller on board SEETEUFEL
This photograph depicts Count Felix Graf von Luckner with wife Countess Ingeborg von Luckner (née Engeström) and boatswain Karl Muller, on board the two-masted schooner SEETEUFEL. It was probably taken on 20 May 1938 as a similar photograph was published in 'The Sydney Morning Herald' on 21 May 1938 on page 12. According to the secret files kept on the von Luckners by the Commonwealth Investigation Branch (CIB), Muller was: ‘afraid to go ashore because he cannot resist the city hotels and as he is 62 years of age cannot stand up to hard drinking.' These files are held within the National Archives of Australia.
