Anniversary Day Regattas
Each year on what is now known as Australia Day on 26 January, a regatta was held on Sydney Harbour. Numerous vessels would assemble at various points in the harbour, including a flagship which acted as the start and finishing point usually moored at Cremorne Point. Other events were held on the day and thousands of people would flock to the harbour to witness and participate in the day's festivities.
