Apollo 12
Launch: November 14, 1969
Landing: November 24, 1969
Astronauts: Charles Conrad Jr., Alan L. Bean and Richard F. Gordon Jr.
Apollo 12 landed on the moon and began taking lunar samples as well as leaving scientific equipment to measure seismic activity and engineering data over a long period of time. The astronauts recovered parts of the Surveyor III spacecraft which had soft landed on the moon on April 20, 1967. Scientists wanted to determine the long-term effects of exposure to the elements had on the metals on Surveyor.
