The objective of the Gemini IX-A mission was to rendezvous and dock with augmented target docking adapter (ATDA). However, the ATDA shroud did not completely separate, making docking impossible. Despite this, Gemini IX-A completed three different types of rendezvous and over two hours of EVA.
