M2-F2 Lifting Body

The M2-F2 lifting body arrived by truck at the Flight Research Center (now the Armstrong Flight Research Center) on June 16, 1965. A year would pass before it would make its first flight on July 12, 1966. After being horribly damaged in a crash landing in May 1967, it was modified into the "M2-F3." After a successful flight program the craft was retired and now hangs in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
