GOES-P Launch

A United Launch Alliance Delta IV rocket lifts off with the NASA/NOAA Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite P (GOES P) from Space Launch Complex-37, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, at 6:57 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on March 4, 2010. GOES P's mission was to provide NOAA and NASA scientists with data to support weather, solar and space operations, and enable future science improvements in weather prediction and remote sensing. Additionally, GOES P provided data on global climate changes and capability for search and rescue. When the spacecraft reached its operational orbit twelve days after launch it was renamed GOES-15.
