19 New Astronauts Announced Today in 1966

Portrait of astronaut group announced on April 4, 1966. The 19 new astronauts, all pilots, brought the total number of astronauts to 50. Of the new class, three would walk on the Moon: Ed Mitchell on Apollo 14, Jim Irwin on Apollo 15 and Charlie Duke on Apollo 16.
