15-Foot Vertical Spin Tunnel
(L-10279): This rare photo of the lower portion of the 15-Foot Spin Tunnel’s exterior reveals how the tunnel was built as an independent structure within Building 646’s high bay. Air was drawn into the tunnel between the support legs and up through a central passage containing the test section by a fan near the top, then discharged into the room, which served as the return plenum. Note the staircase up to the test chamber.
