George C. Marshall Space Flight Center

After President Kennedy announced the goal of a moon landing, the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center was charged with designing the Saturn I and Saturn V launch vehicles that would accomplish the task. Wind tunnels contributed to the design and production of the Saturn vehicles. The center was later in charge of propulsion systems for the Space Shuttle Program and continues to be a primary NASA center for the development of launch vehicles and propulsion systems.
