Apollo 16

Apollo 16, crewed by astronauts John Young, Thomas Mattingly II, and Charles Duke, was the first Apollo mission to land in the lunar highlands. Young and Duke spent nearly three day on the surface near Descartes crater, during which time they conducted moonwalks, drove the Lunar Roving Vehicle, and collected 211 lb of lunar samples for return to Earth. After Young and Duke rejoined Mattingly in lunar orbit, the crew released a sub-satellite from the Service Module. During the return trip to Earth, Mattingly performed a one-hour spacewalk to retrieve several film cassettes from the exterior of the Service Module.
