Description/Notes: Early settlement of Oregon. During the winter of 1805, the Lewis and Clark Expedition reached the mouth of the Columbia. After finding a suitable location, they constructed Fort Clatsop. The expedition remained at the fort until 23 April 1806, when they returned to St. Louis, Missouri.
