William Clark
Description/Notes: Early settlement of Oregon. William Clark joined the “Lewis and Clark Expedition” on an appointment from President Jefferson. After gaining much fame and respect from that expedition, he was put in charge of Indian Affairs in the Louisiana Territory. In 1813, he appointed governor of the Missouri Territory. From 1822 until his death in 1838, he served as the Superintendent of Indian Affairs.
