House of Simon, The Tanner, Jaffa

Image Description from historic lecture booklet: "Probably the most noted place in Jaffa is the house of Simon, the tanner, mentioned in Acts 9:43. Here is a Mohammedan place of prayer, and you may see the guard of the premises in white. A fig tree, rearing its shady branches over the mouth of the cistern hollowed out of solid rock, grows in the yard area. The fruit of the fig tree of Jaffa is noted, and is almost on a par with the famous Smyrna fig."
