Governor proclaims December as Virginia National Guard Month

Governor Bob McDonnell ceremonially signs a proclamation designating December as Virginia National Guard Appreciation and Recognition Month in the Commonwealth of Virginia Dec. 6, 2013, at a ceremony in Richmond, Va. Secretary of Public Safety Bryan M. Rhode and Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, joined McDonnell for the signing along with members of the Virginia Army National Guard, Virginia Air National Guard and Virginia Defense Force. After the signing, Long presented McDonnell with the Virginia Distinguished Service Medal to recognize his dedicated support to the Virginia National Guard during his term of office as the 71st Governor of Virginia.
