Virginia Army National Guard recognizes top units
Virginia Deputy Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Adam K. Thiel presents the state-level Pershing Trophy to Company C, 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, during the Virginia National Guard Officer’s Association Conference March 29, 2014, in Williamsburg. The Pershing Award is given to the unit that has the highest marksmanship scores in the Virginia Army National Guard in annual qualification with assigned individual weapons. Thiel and Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, recognized the top performing company level units in the Virginia Army National Guard with the Adjutant General's Cup, Virginia Excellence in Training Awards, National Guard Bureau Superior Unit Awards and Pershing Trophy. Capt. Kyle Duffer, a training officer in the Virginia Army National Guard state training and operations office, assisted with the presentations.
