Rappel master course begins at Fort Pickett - April 7, 2014 .

Army National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve and active duty Soldiers from across the country learn to tie basic military knots as part of a Rappel Master Course taught at the Virginia National Guard’s Fort Pickett-based 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute, April 7, 2014. Approximately 20 Soldiers started the course, which runs April 7-11, and will train the Soldiers how to tie and utilize knots commonly used during rappelling operations, how to inspect, rig and maintain rappelling equipment, how to inspect and identify deficiencies in the seats of rappellers, aircraft command and control during rappelling as well as hand and arm signals and hook-up procedures.
