In 2007 the Department of the Army recognized the National Guard Recruiting & Retention Force as the most professional military sales force in the world and authorized a new and distinct shoulder sleeve insignia. The SSI is in the shape of a triangle to symbolize the unit's three tenet mission; recruiting, retention and attrition management. In the center of the triangle there is minuteman Soldier that signifies the history of the Army National Guard Citizen- Soldier. Around the center of the triangle are 54 stars to represent the state and federal mission of the Army Guard in all states and territories.
