Maintenance company conducts recovery training at Fort Pickett

Virginia National Guard Soldiers from the Blackstone-based 3647th Maintenance Company, 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group conduct wheeled vehicle recovery training and field maintenance, May 7th, at Fort Pickett, Va. As part of the unit’s annual training, Soldiers intentionally disabled vehicles in rough terrain and used their wheeled vehicle recovery vehicles, known as a Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck or HEMTT, to pull vehicles out of the mud. This training is initially taught to Soldiers during an 11-day wheeled vehicle recovery specialist course where they learn how to operate, service and use recovery vehicles and equipment, as well as procedures used in rigging, recovering and the towing of wheeled vehicles.
