Va. aviators training with USAR medical unit

Virginia National Guard Soldiers from the Chesterfield-based Detachment 2, Company G, 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment conduct patient load and unload training with personnel from the U. S. Army Reserve's Fort Story-based Company A, 48th Combat Support Hospital June 11, 2014, at Camp Pendleton, Va. After receiving a safety briefing and practicing loading and unload procedures, Soldiers then loaded and unloaded a simulated patient with the Black Hawk rotors turning to replicate a real-world patient transport situation. Col. Thomas R. McCune, the Virginia National Guard state surgeon, visited the training and talked with the Soldiers about the importance of joint Guard and USAR training to increase readiness for possible domestic operations missions. Both units were conducting their two-week annual training. (Photo by Cotton Puryear, Virginia National Guard Public Affairs)
