Live fire exercise showcases 116th capabilties - June 23, 2014
Infantrymen from Christiansburg-based Company C, 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team complete an assault live fire exercise as part of its 10-day eXportable Combat Training Capability rotation at Fort Pickett, Va. June 23, 2014. The lane tested leaders on multiple facets of platoon combat operations. Components of the lane included an engineer breach, indirect fire from artillery and mortars, visual recon information from the Raven unmanned aerial vehicle, call for aeromedical evacuation. Joint Terminal Attack Controllers from the North Carolina Air National Guard’s 118th Air Support Operations Squadron provided tactical command and control of close air support assets and additional capabilities to the Soldiers on the ground.
