Infantrymen learn reflexive fire techniques during advanced leader training

Active duty, U.S. Army Reserve and U.S. National Guard Soldiers conduct reflexive fire training Jan. 17, 2015, during the 11B Advanced Leader Course taught by cadre of the Fort Pickett-based 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute. The 18-day course prepares infantrymen for their upcoming roles as senior noncommissioned officers and focuses on tactical proficiency as well as administrative requirements of senior NCOs, such as how to effectively complete NCO evaluation reports, or NCOERs. During the reflexive fire training, the 20 students learned how to quickly engage targets at close-range and focused on “perfect practice” in order to develop muscle memory to make them more efficient when encountering enemy targets in an urban, close-quarters environment.
