34th CST Soldiers train with Fort Lee unit preparing for Africa mission

Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from the Fort Pickett-based 34th Civil Support Team conduct training on the proper techniques for putting on and removing personnel protective equipment with Soldiers from the Fort Lee-based 54th Quartermaster Company (Mortuary Affairs), 82nd Special Troops Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade Nov. 6, 2014, at Fort Lee, Va. Soldiers from the 54th are scheduled to deploy to West Africa later this year to support Operation United Assistance, the U. S. military mission to provide logistics, training and engineering support to the effort to contain the spread of the Ebola virus in Africa. The 54th Quartermaster Company is one of the U.S. Army's two active-duty mortuary affairs companies, both based at Fort Lee. While the Soldiers from the 54th already received training on personal protective equipment, the additional training from the 34th CST helped them gain additional proficiency and confidence in their abilities and equipment.
