Task Force Normandy Soldiers depart Virginia

Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard’s Troop B, 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry Regiment, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team say goodbye to family and friends and load up equipment Sept. 11, 2015, as they prepare to leave Virginia to conduct training for their federal active duty mobilization to Qatar. The Soldiers assigned to Troop B will join Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard’s Winchester-based 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th IBCT, also known as Task Force Normandy, which is made up of units from around the state. They are expected to conduct security missions in support of contingency operations in the region. The mobilization is expected to be for about 12 months. Read more at go.usa.gov/3Md3B.
