Va. Guard senior leaders visit Task Force Normandy
Virginia National Guard senior leaders visit Soldiers assigned to the Winchester-based 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Oct. 8, 2015, at Fort Bliss, Texas, as the conduct training for a federal active duty mobilization to Qatar. Soldiers from the battalion, also known as Task Force Normandy, are scheduled to conduct security operations. Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Col. William J. Coffin, commander of the 116th IBCT, presented challenge coins to individual Soldiers for outstanding duty performance. Also joining the visit were Brig. Gen. Walter L. Mercer, Virginia National Assistant Adjutant General-Army, Command Sgt. Maj. Alan M. Ferris, Virginia National Guard Senior Enlisted Advisor, and Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas H.
