Virginia National Guard Soldiers assist Virginia State Police in Fairfax

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Fredericksburg-based 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team provide transportation and assistance to Virginia State Police personnel Jan. 23, 2016, in Fairfax, Virginia. Virginia National Guard Soldiers have been on state active duty across the commonwealth supporting Virginia State Police as well as local law enforcement and emergency services organizations providing assistance to people impacted by the snow storm as part of a multi-agency state team. The Humvees are equipped with radios as part of the Statewide Agencies Radio System. STARS provides multi-channel communications specifically designed for public safety, allowing digital communication between 21 state agencies throughout the commonwealth to communicate.
