116th MET Soldiers conduct IED defeat training

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Staunton-based 116th Military Engagement Team, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team conduct training on the Improved Explosive Device Defeat Lane March 3, 2015, at Fort Pickett, Virginia, as part of their pre-mobilization training. The lane is designed to train Soldiers to recognize indicators for IEDs, how to react to an IED, direct and indirect fire and proper techniques for requesting medical evacuation. Reporters from Richmond area news organizations were embedded in the training lane. During the annual training period, Soldiers of the 116th MET conducted extensive medial training, honed their marksmanship and land navigation skills. During their federal mobilization, the 116th MET will conduct military-to-military engagements with partners in U.S. Army Central Command’s area of responsibility including Kuwait, Jordan, Oman and Tajikistan.
